    Intercultural Education at the University: From Theory To Practice

    This article deals with the problem of intercultural education in the university space. The theoretical analysis of the problem is presented along with the results of diagnostics of certain aspects of intercultural education of teachers and students.     The article deals with the social-personal competences of a modern academic staff, the content of which varies in the conditions of the modern world’s transformations. The peculiarities of such teacher competences are characterized as socio-cultural, professional and personal responsibility, leadership, and civil. The results of such formations for the academic staff of 4 countries (Ukraine, Poland, Czech Republic, Slovakia) who are participants of the international project “High school teacher competence in change" No. 21720008 were presented. The project was carried out in 2018 with the financial support of the Visegrad Fund and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands. The problem of developing socio-personal competences of academic staff’s is connected with their ability to solve complex issues in various spheres independently and other spheres of activity on the basis of the creative usage of their own, social experience, solving cognitive, philosophical, moral, and communicative tasks.     Expert-led research on the educational environment of a higher education institution: findings and analysis

    The importance of the educational environment in personal growth, education, and building is realized via the analysis of scientific resources. One of the most crucial elements of such processes, according to some, is the educational environment. The terms "educational environment" and "educational environment of institution of higher education" are defined by the author. The writers promote the idea that the educational setting is a network of resources for individual education. The environmental approach to education, which aims to create and develop an educational environment that must fulfill a student's educational needs, is changing the emphasis on teaching, it is highlighted. The author's method of assessing the quality of the educational environment at a higher education institution is supported and approved, and the rating scale for this method is introduced. The method recommends doing a professional assessment of the learning environment of a higher education institution using qualitative (modality) and quantitative (professional breadth, professional saturation, sociocultural intensity, congruence, openness, mobility, informativeness) factors. A higher education institution's typology of the educational environment is offered (innovative-professional, formal-professional, pragmatically-oriented, formal general cultural educational environment). The analysis and explanation of the experiment's findings at Borys Grinchenko Kyiv University's University College are provided. Three expert groups, which included student, teacher, and parent representatives, evaluated the college's educational setting. Even while assessments made by several expert groups are comparable, it becomes clear that there are important disparities, which has been demonstrated with the help of the right statistical techniques. It has been concluded that there is tremendous potential for the validation of the entire monitoring system of the educational environment of institution of higher education and associated diagnostic instruments

    Based on the analysis of scientific resources, the role of educational environment in personal building, development and education is actualized. It is stated that educational environment is one of the most essential factors of those processes. The author’s definitions of notions “educational environment”, “educational environment of institution of higher education” are given. The authors advocate the point that educational environment is a system of facilities for personal education. It is emphasized that the environmental approach in education is changing accents in teaching which is aimed at creating and developing educational environment, which has to meet educational needs of a student. The author’s technique of evaluating the state of educational environment of institution of higher education is grounded and approved, the rating scale of this technique is introduced. The technique suggests making expert evaluation of educational environment of institution of higher education according to qualitative (modality) and quantitative (professional breadth, professional saturation, sociocultural intensity, congruence, openness, mobility, informativeness) parameters. The typology of educational environment of institution of higher education is presented (innovative-professional, formal-professional, pragmatically-oriented, formal general cultural educational environment). The analysis and interpretation of the results obtained from the experiment at University College of Borys Grinchenko Kyiv University are given. The evaluation of educational environment of the college has been made by three groups of experts, which have included students, teachers and parents. Despite the fact that evaluation by different groups of experts are similar, it is revealed that it has essential differences, which has been proved with appropriate statistical methods. It is determined that the substantiation of the whole monitoring system of educational environment of institution of higher education and corresponding diagnostic tools has great potential

    The article substantiates the utility of digital tools and services in interactive learning in the context of distance education. It analyses the capabilities of technical equipment enabling interactive learning (interactive response and assessment systems, interactive panels, testing and voting systems, touch tables, interactive sandbox and interactive floor) and discusses the didactic side of digital tools and services application in learning (online demonstration, simulation, experiment; webinars; visualization tools; testing tools; mind maps and knowledge maps; timelines, word clouds; virtual digital boards, etc.). Finally, the article presents the findings from faculty and student surveys exploring advantages and downsides of the use of digital tools and services for interactive learning

    Psychoemotional problems of participants in the educational process under martial law: from emergence to overcoming

    The aim: To study the peculiarities of psycho-emotional problems and needs of the subjects of the educational process and to determine the priority areas of their psychological and pedagogical support in the conditions of martial law. Materials and methods: To update the aspects of the problem, we used the methods of analysis of normative and scientific sources, system analysis and generalizations, the results of our own empirical studies, materials of the questionnaire, to study the specifics of psycho-emotional problems and needs of the subjects of the educational process. Results: The problem of socio-psychological protection and support of all participants in the educational process in the conditions of martial law, especially children, is extremely important. Challenge for schools in Kyiv is the organization of the educational process for children who are abroad but continue to obtain general secondary education according to Ukrainian educational standards and programs. This ensures the realization of their constitutional right to education and demonstrates certain support for our citizens who do not yet have the opportunity to return to Ukraine. Conclusions: Considering the massive nature of traumatization of the population during military operations, there is a need to involve social institutions in the maintenance of public health, for which assistance to the population is not the main function, but which they can perform in these extraordinary circumstances. This can form the basis for establishing psychological and pedagogical support for war-traumatized children and adults

    In the past two years, Ukrainian society has experienced deep transformational processes in all of its spheres: political, socio-economic and spiritual. The youth of today operate in extreme conditions: conducting military operations on the territory of Ukraine, the transition to European values. Moreover, the lack of financial stability in the country means that the crisis has led to a re-evaluation amongst of youth. Students are particularly sensitive in this regard and perfectly reflect the new priorities in the system of values, interests and social norms. They are a group in which these changes are the most vivid, a group corresponding to the new trends in fashion, literature, cinema and music, as well as the first group which tends to exhibit an extreme sensitivity to something new, which in turn is reflected in their value orientations. The study described in this article allows an analysis of the causes and nature of social change. Presented in this text are statistics on students’ interests and their values in different aspects—social, recreational, cultural or personal. The results of the study can be helpful in identifying some of the trends emerging in the life strategies of contemporary student youth in Ukraine.W ciągu ostatnich dwóch lat społeczeństwo ukraińskie doświadczyło głębokich procesów transformacji we wszystkich jego sferach: politycznych, społeczno-ekonomicznych i duchowych. Dzisiejsza młodzież funkcjonuje w ekstremalnych warunkach: prowadzenia operacji wojskowych na terytorium Ukrainy, przechodzenia do wartości europejskich. Ponadto brak stabilności finansowej w kraju determinuje kryzys procesu przewartościowania wśród młodzieży. Młodzież studencka jest szczególnie wrażliwa w tym zakresie. Studenci doskonale odzwierciedlają nowe priorytety w systemie wartości, interesów i norm społecznych. To w grupie studentów widać te zmiany w sposób najbardziej obrazowy. To oni zawsze odpowiadają na nowe trendy w modzie, literaturze, kinie i muzyce, a także są pierwszą grupą wykazującą ekstremalną wrażliwość na coś nowego, co z kolei przejawia się w orientacjach na wartości. Badanie opisywane w tym artykule pozwala na analizę przyczyn i charakteru zmian społecznych. W tekście są prezentowane dane statystyczne na temat zainteresowań studentów, ich wartości w różnych obszarach – społecznych, rekreacyjnych i kulturalnych czy osobistych.     Improving the quality of mathematical education of pupils: diagnostics and analytics

    The article considers the problem of the quality of mathematical school education in the context of pupils’ ability to apply the acquired knowledge of mathematics to solve practical problems. It is established that this ability is a clear understanding and awareness of the role of mathematical knowledge in the modern world. It is manifested in the ability to explain natural and scientific phenomena, to draw sound conclusions, to understand the impact of science on human life. The results of a study in which 1849 pupils of Kyiv schools took part are presented. Their ability to apply mathematical knowledge to solve life problems has been established. Examples of mathematical problems developed for testing by specialists of the Ukrainian Center for Educational Quality Assessment are given. The typical pupils’ mistakes, as well as the most successful solutions are analyzed. Pedagogical recommendations for improving the quality of mathematics education of pupils in the context of the reform of the “New Ukrainian School” are given
